“Café com Livros” promotes an afternoon of literary sharing

On October 29th, the Lumiar Academic Campus Library hosted the “Café com Livros” (Coffee with Books) event, promoted by #isecaler and aimed at the academic community. In an informal and welcoming atmosphere, students and professors gathered to share their readings and discuss literary impressions. The Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the #isecaler Project, Sandrina Esteves, opened the event with a reflection on books that evoked childhood memories, creating a nostalgic and intimate atmosphere among the participants.

Among those present were ISEC Lisboa faculty members from various multidisciplinary areas of the institution, including Professor Sara Leite, coordinator of the Post-Graduation in the Art of Storytelling and author of several young adult literary works and, under the pseudonym Vera dos Reis Valente, author of a novel. Also present was Professor Ana Paula Oliveira, coordinator of the Master’s in Risks and Civil Protection, who contributed to one of the event’s highlights by challenging students to read book jacket blurbs and discuss whether the synopses piqued their interest.

Attendees also shared their experiences, sitting on the red sofa that became a stage for some literary confessions, such as the inability to leave home without a book, making it a constant habit.

The project coordinator brought the book “O Vício dos Livros” (The Vice of Books) by Afonso Cruz, sparking a discussion about the impact of literature on our lives and exploring how books transport us beyond reality. To conclude the event, attendees enjoyed a snack break, extending the atmosphere of sharing and camaraderie, and celebrating literature as a meeting point and inspiration for all.

After all, coffee with books is always a good option!
